Sushi Zanmai Komtar JBCC

We visited on a Wednesday evening about 6pm and the service staff seems busy or maybe short handed? The sad thing is they didn't serve with a smile on their faces. Although the QR code was given to order, we needed assistance to clean the side of the tables as it was slightly dirty The food is decent but there was an annoying fly around us while we were eating. Some sushi food came in about 5-10 mins after we ordered but the other food like noodles and fried food required more preparation time. I personally find the salmon sashimi was a decent cut and value for money

Our go to restaurant whenever we visit JB! Prices are really affordable and for that price, we cannot complain much. I also really loved how refreshing the green tea is! Would definitely be back again!

We tried a variety of dishes at this place, and overall, the food was decent but not particularly outstanding. The chawanmushi was smooth and silky, served piping hot with a prawn inside. While it had a nice texture, the flavor didn’t stand out compared to other places. The sushi selection was acceptable, but lacking that wow factor. One of the highlights was the salmon head, which was delicious. The skin was slightly burnt, but the meat inside remained tender and flavorful. The cold tofu was a pleasant surprise, very affordable yet satisfying. The udon had a nice chewiness to it, and the cha soba was enjoyable as well. Overall, it’s a decent spot for a casual meal, especially if you're looking for a variety of Japanese dishes at reasonable prices. However, do note they do have indeed a slow serving time, we were the first customer but it took 20 mins for the first dish to be served.

We ordered the small Oyako don (RM 12.08) and chicken teriyaki don (RM 13.96) , but the portion was actually quite generous—I felt full after finishing it. We also shared a plate of salmon mentai roll (RM 18.68), which were tasty. Another plus: the green tea (RM 2.84 for 2 pax) is refillable, which is always a nice touch. The last time I had sushi in Malaysia was Sushi King in KL 15 years ago I think. Since we have been having Chinese food each time we come to JB, why not try Sushi Zanmai here, before heading home. Honestly the food here is quite good n more affordable as compared to SG. One particular dish I loved was the Karasu Karei Teriyaki (Grilled Atlantic Flounder) n the Zaru soba From now n every visit, I’ll come back for a meal here. Worth a visit if you love Japanese food. PS: No service charge !!!
